Pink Ombre Cake!

 

I had a request for a pink baby shower cake, a pink swirly cake.  So I made a 2 tier pink Ombre Cake! I wanted to make Roses all around it instead of Swirls... but they wanted swirls and it looked great when it was all done! I really enjoyed making this cake! I hope you guys like it too!

Music themed cake!  I love it!  It was very time conzuming but loved it! 
My sister Karla helped me with this one.  The cake was vanilla with buttercream frosting and filling, and of course... decorated with fondant!

My son just turned 8 and he wanted a Dragon Ball Z Cake.  He is so hooked on that cartoon and he knows all the characters and their powers.  I had no idea what to do so I called my brother.   I remember he used to be upsessed with that cartoon and he used to have all the characters, oooops... I think I've said too much!  Sorry Julio :)
So back to the cake.  He helped me decorate it and gave me ideas on the design!  The white round thing is the Pod (spaceship) that they landed in from their planet, whatever planet that is. 
My son loved his cake and I was happy.

My niece Kassandra had a birthday in August she just turned 12 years old, and let me tell you... for a 12 year old she is the most responsible and down to earth pre teen that I have ever met!  She always thinks of others before herself.  She's always looking out for her older brother and for my children.  My kids Love Love Lover her!!!  So I asked her to tell me what kind of cake she was going to want... I told her that I would make her whatever she wanted, and of course being the good girl that she is, she asked for something simple but something that she really liked.   A "Silly String Cake"(not real silly string of course but buttercream silly string), so I did!!! It actually turned out cute.

Bieber Fever!

I made this cake for a sweet girl that was turning 11, she told me exactly what she wanted.  She designed her own cake, a Justin Bieber cake. 

Layla's Baptism

I recently baptised my 4 year old daughter and a friend of mine made her a candy bar! 
The kids loved it!  They were getting chocolate wasted. Some of the adults were too :)

The cake was really simple but I was limited with my time.

Flower Bouquet

I made my first Flower Bouquet :)
It was kind of easy.

Supplies:
flower pot
Foam Ball
Toothpicks
Cupcakes w/ buttercream frosting decorated as Flowers
Tissue Paper

I took the Flower pot inserted the foam ball, punched in the toothpicks in sets of 2 all around the foam, I then pressed the cupcakes against each set of toothpicks until it goes through the cupcake and then I got tissue, fold it up like ribbons and place it between each cupcake.

 The possibilities are endless!  I always wanted to try this!

My Brothers Wedding

The big day finally came and left and OMG!!! Everything as stressful as it was, turned out perfect! It was an outdoor wedding and even though the afternoon was very hot... the day cooled off quick and everyone had lots of fun! The cake was 60 lbs. My sissy Karla helped me with this cake!

Now I can't wait for her to get pregnant and give me a nephew!!!  The only cake that I want to be making for them is a baby shower cake!  Preferably a blue one :)

Diva Cake

My crazy but sweet younger sister Karla wanted to make a cake for her mother in law which she loves very much. Her mother in law was having a B-day party and we were going to make the cake for her. So since she is a very classy but sexy lady... we decided to make a diva cake but very tasteful.  Maybe a purse, make up and some pearls :)  Perfect!!! so that is exactly what we did.

Pink & Black

So my boss asked me to make him a cake for his neighbor!!! I was a little nervous about this one. Not because it was going to be a hard recipe, but because it was for my boss. His wife wanted the cake to be hot pink and black! I made the cake vanilla flavored and I filled it with strawberries and cream. I was happy with the results.

Angry Birds :)

I was so addicted to this Game on my phone and I'm sure that the rest of the world was too!!!  So when I was asked to make an "Angry Bird" cake!!! I was very excited! 

I had so much fun making this cake :)  My brother Julio and my sister Connie helped me with this one!  I thought this cake was going to be difficult, but it turned out to be quite easy... although  it was very time consuming.

My Brother is getting Married!

So my brother is getting married June 2nd and I am making the cake!  I'm actually nervous about making this cake! After all it is a very special day for them and I everything has to be perfect!  The pressure is on!
I need to learn how to make awesome flowers! get the perfect red velvet cake recipe!! yumm!

We are taking a trip tomorrow with all the girls to look for the wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses and I have put on a few pounds (probably from all the cake tasting)   I probably won't even fit into any of the dresses so that is even more stressful!  I have so much stress and planning and it is not even my wedding!!! 

Well... I'm confident that everything will turn out fine! I will post some pictures of the cake and the actual wedding!  I hope I don't forget to hit the record button this time! :)

Coorsl Light Cake

A co-worker that is a friend of mine asked if it was possible to make a Coors Light Cake for a special ocassion!  and even though I never made one before I went for it because after all that is how I'm learning!  I can honestly say that it is one of the easiest cakes that I have ever made!  I loved the result!  and I don't know if I have ever mentioned this before but I work for a Recycling Company and I have for a long time, so I deffinetly had to put CA CRV on the can!

I made six 10" round Chocolate cakes and stacked them up with Mocha Buttercream Frosting, then I cut a small edge all the way down and laid the cakes down, then I covered with Gray Fondant that I made with a little drop of Black on white Fondant, when cake was all covered.. I brushed on eddible shimmer dust, I didn't have silver dust so I actually used Pearl dust but I liked the result.  I'm learning :)

With every cake I make I learn a new technique!  :0)

Bird Cake

I had a request from a friend to make this cake and even though I thought it was too simple... if I would have added any more detail to it, it would've been too much!

It was for this addorable little girl named Lila that was turning 1

BabyShower

I have a co-worker that is due any minute now actually!  Her last week of work we planned a surprise baby shower for her... I made the cake! and since she is having a girl!

I made the cake on a Sunday and it was supposed to be for Monday! So I usually post the cakes on Facebook as soon as I finish them but I didn't want to post this one because I knew she would see it and immediately know that it was for her (she's the only pregnant one).  The next morning, when I got to work someone told me that Jessica (that's her name) was going to be late so it was perfect... I didn't have to sneak in the cake! :)  everyone like the cake and were taking pictures of it which I enjoyed!  I didn't even think about someone else posting it!  Well they did... and the surprise was ruined!  Well NOT ruined but it was no longer a surprise!

Proposal

Feb 2012.  So my 31 year old brother asks me for a big favor... he wants to know if I can make him a surprise cake for his girlfriend Yohana! I said... "SURE" what theme should I make it??? He said I want it to be a proposal cake with a Ring!!!  After he picked me up from the floor and splashed my face with cold water and I came to my sense... I agreed to do it! Ok, Ok... the passing out part didn't really happen, but I was in Shock!!!

A day before her birthday, my brother came over to help and we started the cake!

Funny and true story but the proposal... we closed the little gift box so that it just liked like a little gift! and it had a little Happy Birthday Sign next to it!  so that when she opened it it she would see the ring and the bottom of the lid said "will you mary me?"

so i had the front seat the best seat.. i had my camera out and started recording early because i didn't want to miss any reaction...  when it wasl all going on (the proposal) i was recording everything and was thinking that i had the best video and that i was going to make my brother beg for it!!!

when it was all over and i stoped recording! My camera STARTED RECORDING!!!!!

It turns out that i never hit Record!   :(  Oh well... I could've showed you guys a video!

  

Improving

So I just uploaded my cakes and not exactly in the order that i made them, although I should have so that you can see the improvement.  Because there IS an IMPROVEMENT.  :)
The last cake I made was the repunzel (Tangled) cake, and I can honestly say that I'm getting better at it!  Not only at decorating but also at the flavors and textures of the cakes!

One thing that I haven't mentioned is that I don't work alone...
I have an awesome Family... 2 Sisters and 1 Brother that take turns to help me each time I have to make a cake.  My brother Julio is good at making characters and figures.  My sister Karla is very creative and is full of ideas and my sister Connie is very patient and detailed.  So honestly depending on the theme of the cake I will ask one of them for help :)
